the new year started with a number of changes to our site. First we changed the navigation by adding a nifty looking menu. We are convinced that navigating on our site is much easier now.
Then we adapted our checkout process to some new regulations. The main changes are concerning order cancellation policies regarding download products and implementing new european VAT regulations.
- European regulations now require to provide customers with a right to withdraw their purchase within 14 days even for download products. Previously this right could be excluded for downloads completely. However, the withdrawal right terminates when the contract is executed, i.e. when you are provided with the download link. This requires that you explicitely confirm that you want the download immediately and that you are aware that this terminates your withdrawal right. An extra confirm button has been integrated into the downloads page for this purpose. Please also have a look at our updated terms and conditions.
- A new regulation in the EU requires that download products will be taxed based on the country of residence of the customer. Previously VAT was based on the store country. This means that for download products VAT will be based on your country, and hence end prices will be different for the various european countries. The store will initially guess your country based on your IP, once you are logged on it will use the data you have provided. When you have a mixed order, i.e. a download version plus a DVD version, separate VAT rates will be calculated for each item.
