Note: All our sample sets include an informative booklet in pdf-format. You can call this up at any time directly from Hauptwerk via the "Show Organ Information" menu item in the "Organ" menu.

Larger sample sets are divided into several files. These together form a split archive and must therefore be installed together. Before installation, download all the files belonging to a sample set and make sure that they are all in the same folder.

For sample sets that are not protected with the iLok system, you will find free trial versions on our download page, which always contain the complete sample set so that you can try out all the stops, sounds and functions of the organ. The trial versions are not limited in time, the only restriction is a periodic muting. With some larger sets, this muting is only activated after a certain number of stops have been drawn. The exact details of the respective test version are described on the download page. To “unlock” the full version, you need to install an additional file in Hauptwerk, which contains the organ definition with the test function switched off. You can download this file from your customer account at any time after purchasing the license for the sample set. This file is very small as it only contains the organ definition. It is therefore not necessary to download and install the complete organ again.

Most of our non-iLok protected sample sets are available for all versions from HW4.2 onwards. When downloading, please note that the file format has changed with HW5. Therefore, you will find two versions on the server, one for HW4.2 and one for HW version 5 and higher.

The iLok process allows different key types; the time-limited trial license and the permanent full license are relevant for sample sets. The trial license is valid for a defined period (14 days) starting with its activation on the customer's system. It is not possible to extend the trial period, e.g. by obtaining a new trial license. Regardless of the type of license, you will receive an activation code from us with which you can activate the license on your system.

You can request trial licenses using our web form, you will receive the activation code immediately and free of charge by email. Codes for full licenses will be sent to you by email after purchasing a set.

After receiving an activation code, the first step is to activate the license. To do this, start the iLok License Manager on your system, log in to your account and then select the action "redeem activation code". Here you must now enter the activation code you have received. The easiest way to do this is to copy and paste it directly from the e-mail. This will activate the license in your iLok account. The second step is to activate it. To do this, you can right-click on the entry for the new sample set in the list of available licenses and then select Activate from the context menu. The license is then ready for use and you can continue with the installation in Hauptwerk.

• If the sample set consists of several files, these must be fully downloaded before installation and located in the same folder. Now select the file with the smallest number (e.g. "...part1...rar") for installation. Hauptwerk recognizes that this is a split archive and automatically reads in all files for installation.
• If you are upgrading to the full version of an organ that is not protected with iLok, only install the downloaded file for the full version. As the previously installed trial version contains the samples, it must not be uninstalled. If you want to remove the additional entry for the trial version in the list of installed sample sets, you can uninstall it by making sure that you only uninstall the [ORGAN] entry of the sample set, but never the [DATA] entry.
• With iLok-protected sample sets, an error message (“... perhaps a license hasn't been installed for it”) may appear. There are two possible causes for this error:
  • The license for the sample set is not installed or not activated. Please check in the iLok License Manager whether the license for the sample set is set to “activated”.
  • The sample set is newer than the version of the “Hauptwerk Licensing Packages” you have installed. In this case, you must download it from the Hauptwerk website (LINK) and install the updated packages file.
